Lower back pain affects a large number of people. Back pain is a common injury, not just from sports or exercise, but from everyday life. Lifting, twisting and throwing can cause a back sprain to your lumbar or sacroiliac areas. Sneezing or an uncomfortable bed can also give you a back ache.

The vertebrae runs from the base of your skull to your tailbone. The spaces between the vertebrae contain spongy cushions called discs, which are held together by a network or ligaments and muscles.

Lower Back Pain:

When you have pain in your lower back, you probably over-stretched or tore ligaments, tendons or muscles around the lumbodorsal and sacroiliac vertebrae.

Symptoms of back pain include:

  • back pain and stiffness
  • tenderness or swelling
  • muscle spasms
